Football Club Owner

Gino Pozzo and the Growth of Watford FC

The Rise of Gino Pozzo

Gino Pozzo was born in Udine, Italy to two parents who love football. As he grew up his parents Giampaolo Pozzo and Giuliana Pozzo were strong supporters of the Udinese Calcio football club. After moving to the United States to study at Harvard University he married a woman from Spain and later lived there for 20 years.

Soon after taking ownership of the Vicarage Road Football Club Gino Pozzo spent many years developing his reputation as a football club developer. Gino Pozzo is now the owner of England’s Watford Football Club and is working diligently to ensure that the club grows to a crowd favorite.

Family Scouting

Gino Pozzo developed his family’s model of football club ownership. The family model utilizes scouting to create success within the football clubs that they purchase. Through the model Gino Pozzo has been able to help various struggling football clubs rise within their leagues.

Watford Football Club

The Pozzo family purchased the Watford Football Club in 2012 with the intent to prioritize their efforts on the struggling organization. After the purchase the family ended up in a position where they owned football clubs in England, Spain, and Italy at the same time. The family’s football club ownership in these three countries prompted them to be titled as “European Soccer’s Ascendant Family” by the Wall Street Journal. The same year that the Pozzo family acquired the Wall Street Journal title, in 2015, each of their football clubs rose to the top ranks within their countries.

Business and the Game

There have been vast million-dollar investments that have been made in the Premier League. These investments have been made by businessmen who are now more passionate about the sport and their local football leagues.
