Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin: Heroes of the Immigrants In Arizona

One of the basic human rights that can be found written in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the freedom of movement. It assures that someone can travel from one place to another, within their state or even outside the borders of their state.

However, this right is not always observed, especially in our world today where terrorism is seen to be on the rise. Because of the war in the Middle East, many people from war torn countries have made migrations into Europe. They are having a hard time integrating with the society, as they are deemed to be unworthy living in foreign lands.

The same thing applies to people living in harsh conditions in developing countries who are wishing to live a better life in the developed world. They are often denied visas and their right of movement is virtually cancelled. Read more: About Lacey and Larkin- Frontera Fund

The world’s view on immigrant is polarized, as some are saying that it is a new way of invasion, while some were a little bit more understand about the reasons why these people choose to leave their homeland in search of better opportunities overseas.

The number of non-government organizations which aim to protect immigrant rights has doubled in the past five years. They often times try to negotiate with their home government about giving migrants a chance to live freely into their home lands, and sometimes, they are taking their protest on the streets so that the government can hear them better. These compassionate people wanted to help those who are in need, and are willing to sacrifice their lives just to give these immigrants the right for a better life.

Among these people who are fighting for civil, human and migrant rights were Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. They are involved in helping immigrants who are coming into the state of Arizona, giving all the assistance that they can give to secure those jobs and finding them new homes. Unfortunately, these good people are somewhat misunderstood, and were being pursued by the state.

However, their good deeds outweigh the bad perception that the state is giving them, and a lot of people are actually working together to protect these two men who are seen as the new hero of the migrants.
